2011 Upper State Champions!


Welcome to the home of Woodruff High School Wolverines Football. The Wolverines lay claim to ten South Carolina State Championships including 16 state title appearances. The Woodruff football team is synonymous with State Championships, CLASS, and sportsmanship. Located in Woodruff, SC the Wolves play their home games at W.L. Varner stadium which bears the name of National High School coaching legend, W.L. "Willie" Varner. The Wolves are under the direction of Head Coach, Brian Lane.


The Wolverine football tradition is built on hard work, dedication and respect. The reputation of Wolverine football is carried forth each year by young men who pledge to Decide, Commit, and Succeed. Their journey as Wolverines will carry them far in life.

  • Woodruff's Jones commits to Georgia Southern

    D.J. Jones will soon be reunited with some old teammates. The Woodruff defensive back has verbally committed to Georgia Southern and is set to join former Wolverines standouts Shun Tribble and B.J Johnson.

  • USC, Clemson pursuing Woodruff receiver Bone

    Woodruff wide receiver Blake Bone has received an official offer from Clemson, according to Wolverines coach Brian Lane. The 6-foot-5 junior received the offer from Tigers wide receivers coach Jeff Scott after a camp last month. Bone also has an offer from South Carolina and is receiving heavy interest from Georgia Tech, N.C.

    Congrats to Blake Bone on a football offer from Clemson University. Congrats to DJ Jones on a football offer from Georgia Southern University.

  • In an unusual turn, Woodruff's D is the star

      It’s rare that Woodruff’s defense, not the offense, would be responsible for a victory. But that’s something Wolverines coach Brian Lane doesn’t mind. Woodruff and its undefeated season were on the ropes until Kenny Drummond stripped a Tigers ball carrier and took the ball 98 yards for a touchdown to put the Wolverines up for good last week.
